Immanence

Immanence is a series of paintings and drawings that investigate the process of painting, the physical structure of paint  and vision. The human size paintings (ca. 7’x10’) use black oil paint which is applied in different ways and different time periods. The resulting differences in the matter and structure of the oil paint create different depths that can be perceived differently according to the distance and location of the viewer. The shapes used coincide with the field of vision and body action. The paint manifests the phenomenological relationship to the viewer, the process of making and human movement immanent in itself.
