LIGHTS-WHITE.jpg
The light object light space is made out of X-mas decoration lights, which are still in their original packaging.

20 bulbs create a row, each row is connected to a heat sensor so that the light surface is blinking in a random rhythm. When the  sensors turn on and off a low click sound appears. The array of colored bulbs release a warm light tone.

Light space is an array of ready made combined to a surface. The singular product is no longer of importance. In its binary appearance the light space reminds of the origins of computing cultures. The on’s and off’s remain cryptic and are not deciphered or reconstituted in simple graphic imagery like general digital culture nowadays.
Through its light character the 2 dimensional object expands into the third dimension. It creates a space in front of it. While it is grabbing the observers attention, it creates more an atmosphere of contemplation than of event.
